Consultancy and Expertise

I offer my expertise on a consultancy basis, with fees negotiated based on the scope and nature of the job. I also provide pro bono services to institutions and non-governmental organizations dedicated to advancing public understanding of science.

Law and Personality Disorders

With over a decade of expertise in the research history and scientific literature on Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD) and psychopathy, I offer an evidence-based perspective on these highly contested "disorders" or "constructs". My book, Psychopathy Unmasked, critically examines the scientific research on psychopathy and its frequent (mis)use in legal contexts. I have consulted on cases involving the use of psychopathy and ASPD in North American courts, where these labels are often presented as medical diagnoses with definitive prognostic claims (e.g., high risk, untreatability, etc.). My work includes providing guidance to legal teams on how to most effectively respond to expert evidence addressing ASPD and psychopathy. Additionally, I have developed educational materials designed to help legal professionals critically evaluate how these constructs are framed and used in courtroom settings.

Public Speaker and Educator

With over a decade of experience as a university-level educator, I have extensive training in engaging diverse audiences. My public talks and lectures focus on themes at the intersection of science and society, covering topics in forensic psychology and epistemology. I strive to ensure my presentations are both informative and grounded in the latest research, and I tailor my content to suit specific themes and audiences. As a speaker, my goal is to foster critical thinking and meaningful dialogue on pressing scientific and social issues.

Ontology and Taxonomy Development

Through my research at the University of Toronto and in my role as an Affiliated Scientist at the National Center for Ontological Research, I have worked with ontology and taxonomy development for data structuring and analysis, with a focus on the health and cognitive sciences. My contributions include work on various projects in the Open Biological and Biomedical Ontology foundry. During my PhD at the University at Buffalo, I gained extensive training in Basic Formal Ontology (BFO). I welcome opportunities on a case-by-case consultancy basis.
